5 – Turning The Double Deuce

March 7, 2011

Well mis amigos this past Friday I turned 22. No longer am I young and fun, 21. I’m just kind of old now. Nothing special. Nothing to look forward to.

Enough with my pity party. My friends planned the night without telling me what was going on so I was a little nervous.

We met at my apartment and pre-gamed with Four Loko like always and then headed to STL. I’ve been a heavy drinker for many years now and have been to most bars in the city at least once.

They found this place called Rue 13 that becomes “That 80′s Club” every Friday night. When I found out where we were going I became QUITE excited. We drove through rain, lightening, and thunder to celebrate my birthday. What can I say? It takes more than mother nature to keep me in on a Friday night.

So we roll up, I was decked out in acid-washed jeans, two popped collar polos, a white blazer with rolled up sleeves, a sweet sweat band, and some crazy shades, I’m sure the valet guy thought we were hot messes. Oh well, it’s my birthday I do what I want.

We walk in like the own the place and go straight to the bar. Being my drink of choice I was given 3 shots of Patron to start the night with and boy did those go down smoothly. We drank and busted out some sweet dance moves for hours.

Surprisingly not that many people were in costume. I didn’t care, I just did another round of shots; this time it was Rumple Minze.

As the night went on we stopped by The Library Annex, Morgan Street Brewery, Big Daddy’s, Fusion, and The Complex. Drinking the whole way.

I’m writing about this because I think I can understand how these young celebrities get out of hand i.e. Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, and Tara Reid. They’re given access to all kinds of drugs and alcohol.

My friends wanted to make sure I had a good time so every time I turned around a shot was in my face. I didn’t pay for anything, yet drank more than I had since my 21st birthday.

Well, I’m just saying if every night I went out was like my birthday I could understand developing an issue with alcohol. But for now…party on.

Patron 4 eva,

Mike

  1. I couldn’t agree with you more! I think it’s easy for the public to judge celebrities who get out of control. People only see it from an outsiders point of view, and I too have wondered how some celebrities get so off track. Reading your post really made me start to think, and sympathize for those celebrities. It’s flat out hard to say no, especially when the goal is to have great time. And not to mention, who doesn’t like things that are free? I can definitely see myself taking advantage of those situations if I were them. They are human too and sometimes mistakes are going to be made. No one is perfect and I think the public forgets that when it comes to celebrities. We need to be more forgiving. On another note, sounds like you had an amazing birthday! Hope it was just as good if not better than your 21st!

  2. Thanks for the comment Jillian. You’re right it’s hard to say no to free stuff. I think it’s become almost an instinct with humans. If something is offered to you at no cost to you, you must accept it whether you need it or not.
